Play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time 3D was first released in 1998, paving the way for modern gaming. It was the first game that used 3D graphics in the Legend Of Zelda series.

It is a role-playing game that involves exploration, proving that the game is about being curious and discovering new things. This classic game has now been upgraded to a 3D version, and the graphics are now enhanced, with the characters being much more detailed.

All the physical structures in the game have been given complete redesigns, giving more life to Hyrule with more vibrancy and intricacy. The upgraded version of the game is very similar to the original version, but the developers have upgraded the game’s visuals to another level.

Plot

The game’s storyline revolves around a young hero called Link. This hero is sent on a mission by the legendary Princess Zelda to nullify the advances of the evil Ganondorf. In his journey to see of Ganondorf’s threat, he goes on various side missions by traveling through time and navigating dungeons and an overworld.

In Ocarina of Time, Link must stop Ganondorf before he conquers the world. To do this, he must search for the three spiritual stones Ganondorf needs for his evil plan to succeed.

Fast forward seven years later, and Ganondorf is now the ruler of Hyrule, whom Link should defeat. This is a summary of the game’s plot.

Gameplay

The controls have been converted to a handheld console, but you can still assign weapons and other items to any buttons you like. You can use the left trigger to aim your bow or catapult or choose motion controls.

You have access to more options than in the previous game regarding taking action. Your gear, map, and other items can be accessed using the one-touch option on the touchscreen or buttons.
