Play Suikoden III on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Suikoden III on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

Suikoden 3 is a role-playing game based on three characters, which can be played on the PlayStation 2 in 2002. The game is dubbed to be one of the best RPG titles in gaming history.

There is no doubt that the developers, Konami, had their sights set on the success of this game, but the outcome was more than expected. This game does not have the conventional hero that goes and saves the day.

Instead, it is based on three individuals and the way all three of them see life.

Plot

Suikoden 3 has one of the most engaging storylines ever, intertwining the lives of three people. These three characters are Hugo, the son of a village chief, Geddoe; the rebel unit commander; and Chris, the virtuous knight of Zexen.

All three characters have stories based on different timelines, called the Trinity Sight System. They all have varying goals in their individual stories, but there is a point where they meet.

As they search for the Flame Champion, they cross paths at his hideout. When they discover there is no more Flame Champion, a new one is chosen among the three people. Hugo was initially chosen as the one, but it was never fixed.

Gameplay

There aren’t many RPG games that build up their characters the way Suikoden 3 does. You get to play the protagonist role and can change characters in between.

You must talk to other characters in the game and complete tasks to recruit new members to go on missions. All these three characters have different skills, for which they have a limit on each. There are some spells you can use, depending on the runes.

You will have to plan strategically when your armies are about to go into battle as it will be a turn-based war. There are also side-quests and mini-games in Suikoden 3.
