Play OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

Sega’s Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast is the epitome of the Outrun series, integrating all the features of the previous versions of this game. Outrun is a racing game that includes 30 tracks which the developers incorporated from past titles.

Outrun has been in the gaming world for almost 20 years since its inception, and the gamers who grew up playing such games will love to see the changes in Outrun 2006’s Coast 2 Coast.

The game might not be attractive to young people who did not grow up with this franchise. It is still one of the best racing games among the classic ones, similar to the Midway and Namco collections.

Plot

Coast 2 Coast has the same landscapes and cities as the first Outrun game, except for some minor changes. It has a total of 30 race tracks that players can race on, and the game permits them to decide their course in the Outrun universe.

When you reach a checkpoint, you get bonus seconds, which goes on. To do this, you must drive the car at top speed while being careful not to crash.

Gameplay

You can choose to play different challenges in this game after unlocking them. There are challenges where you need to win races and beat specific stats.

The player has a girlfriend, whom he must protect against other drivers trying to impress her by winning the race. You must be able to show a lot of drifting ability and follow behind another car closely to take your opportunity to overtake it when a window opens up.

As incredible as this game might seem, the graphics can discourage new players from trying. The pixelization is very poor when played on larger screen sizes. However, Coast 2 Coast’s gameplay is still one of the best among racing games.
