Play State of Decay 2 on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play State of Decay 2 on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
State of Decay 2 is the follow-up to the State of Decay. This survival game was developed by Undead Labs and was released in May 2018. This game centers around the zombie apocalypse and how everyday players have to survive. The aim of this game is to survive while dealing with thirst and hunger.
Unlike the first franchise, the second one received a mixed review from the critics. But it's unfair not to commend its solid gameplay with excellent combat and good music score. Additionally, post-launch, it has included tons of content.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the game had ten million players by August 2021. The good aspect of this game is that it leaves you on edge and can be pretty enthralling. As the game is set in an open environment, you are prone to threats from the zombies, of course; and you can team up with players up to three to achieve goals or improve the facilities.
The difficulty level of this game is impressive and can be pretty nerve-wracking at times. Fair enough, it's a decent zombie-based game, but can it be better? Perhaps, the new sequel, which is about to release soon, might salvage it.
What’s the problem
Despite excellent combat and gameplay, the constant occurrence of graphical hitches spoils the mood. Technical issues and lack of resource management affect the overall aspect of the game.
Additionally, it lacks in-depth and underwhelming visual themes. Another major issue is the bugs which can be pretty annoying, causing them to break the game.
State of Decay can be better if not for technical issues. But there is no harm in giving it a shot as it can get you entirely immersed in the game. It may not be the best, but not terrible either. Let’s hope that the new sequel gives justice to this nearly perfect game.
