How to play Testament on Mac

Game summary

You are a soldier on an expedition to find the crypt of the ancient magus Ghuwta, the mightiest of the sorcerors and ruler of an empire 4 000 years ago. Or at least you were, until you were separated from your group. Now your task is simply to survive, and eventually find your way out of the haunted lands you are trapped in. Unfortunately, the way out seems to involve finding and defeating Ghuwta's ghost. Testament is a horror-themed Doom clone, set outside and inside graveyards, catacombs and dungeons filled with ancient fantasy monsters. On each level you will find a scroll, a piece of the ”testament” of the title. This will allow you to save your progress and move on to the next level. The engine is very similar to the original Doom, with no ability to look up and down, little in the way of lighting effects and bitmapped monsters. On the other hand, it does have fading light into the distance and a map overlay, and runs on an unexpanded Amiga 1200.
First released: Dec 1996

Play Testament on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Testament on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

Step 2
Follow the installation process and make sure you allow Parallels in your Mac’s security preferences (it will prompt you to do so).

When prompted, download and install Windows 10. The download is around 5.7GB. Make sure you give it all the permissions that it asks for.
Step 4
Once Windows is done installing, you are ready to go. All that’s left to do is install Testament like you would on any PC.
