How to play MotorStorm Complete on Mac

Game summary

A Japanese re-release of the hit PS3 racer, MotorStorm Complete adds a number of features and content not included in the original Japanese release, most importantly online play as well as over 60 newly added elements from download packs (including new tracks, racers and more.) Developed by Evolution Studios, MotorStorm delivers visceral off-road racing, plunging players into a frenzied environment awash with grit, mud and petrol, in a game that leaves the standard rules of racing in the dust. Gone are the limits of power restrictions, limited classes, and qualifying rounds. Players simply choose their vehicle from a massive range – including dirt bikes, ATVs, sand rails, rally cars, monster trucks, and everything in between – then hit the track in a no-holds-barred sprint to the finish line. Carving a swathe of destruction through the ever-changing wilderness, players must compete in a gasoline-fuelled, horsepower spectacle where the only rule is to try and stay alive.

Play MotorStorm Complete on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play MotorStorm Complete on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

The 2007 PS3 racing extravaganza, Motorstorm, was met with astounding success, both in terms of critical acclaim and popularity. But despite the amazing gameplay, it can still feel quite empty without all the official expansion packs released by Sony Computer Entertainment. That's why Motorstorm Complete fixes that problem by including all the expansions in one epic package.

Now, players can enjoy the game in its final form, with access to around sixty-new game-changing items and elements. What's more, the complete version also features an exciting online multiplayer mode that allows 12 players to compete against each other in a single race.

Gameplay

Motorstorm Complete includes eight race courses that vary in size, sophistication, difficulty, and characteristics. Some of these include the rockhopper, sidewinder, and the ever-so-dangerous Rain God Mesa. Making mistakes on this track will often prove to be lethal, with the possibility of sinking your vehicle over the edge.

Each course has an elaborate set of details, which can profoundly benefit the racer if understood. For example, you might find that a particular course has multiple routes, some of which favor big rigs like trucks rather than speedy bikes.

Key Features

Motorstorm presents itself as a brutal off-road racing game with a no-holds-barred setting that encourages players to get dirty in the mud and win by any means necessary.

The game features seven vehicle types ranging from mighty rigs to speedy dirt bikes that effortlessly fly in the air. The real-time deforming terrain is perhaps the most influential element of the game, allowing players to get an immersive dirt-racing experience. Moreover, the advanced particle effects replicate real-life debris that sticks to every vehicle. Lastly, the combat mechanics allow players to smash into other racers and drive them into fatal crash sequences that provoke jaw drops.
