How to play Shūjin e no Pert-em-Hru on Mac
Game summary
Shūjin e no Pert-em-Hru is a Japanese freeware role-playing video game created with RPG Maker Dante 98 II, by Makoto Yaotani. "Pert-em-Hru" refers to the Egyptian Book of the Dead, so the title of the game means "The Book of the Dead for the Prisoners". The game was produced by two people, with Yaotani responsible for most of the development, and production took a year and a half to complete.
The game received many honours, including the Platinum Prize in the ASCII-held monthly contest "Internet Contest Park" — the only Platinum Prize to be given out during the existence of the contest.
A remake version utilizing RPG Maker VX is currently under development since 2012, 14 years after the release of the original.
First released: Dec 1998
Play Shūjin e no Pert-em-Hru on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Shūjin e no Pert-em-Hru on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
