How to play Ultima X: Odyssey on Mac

Game summary
Ultima X: Odyssey was the planned sequel to Ultima IX: Ascension. The game would have been the series second MMORPG, aiming to bring Ultima to the Everquest crowd. It was set in a new world created within the mind of the now ascended Avatar, where several heroes would find themselves as splintered aspects of that heroic figure.
The game was announced in 2003 with a 2004 release date. Despite being playable at E3 2004 and still set for launch that fall, Electronic Arts cancelled the project to focus on supporting Ultima Online instead. This also led to EA closing the doors on Origin Systems, the studio behind the Ultima series.
Play Ultima X: Odyssey on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Ultima X: Odyssey on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
