Game summary

The Hidden Continent: Column of the Maya is a hidden object adventure game. Apart for looking for the various hidden items, the player often has to interact with the scenery to open drawers, use items from the inventory and also solve logical puzzles. The built-in hint system recharges regularly and usually is very helpful. Sometimes it even allows to skip the whole puzzle entirely, though it doesn't apply for the hidden object locations nor for the final puzzle. Most of the hidden object screens are followed by mini-games, usually based on spotting differences. The story is presented in static cut-scenes and also with subtitles that describe the protagonist's thoughts. The game is also marketed as the sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth and with similar cover art design, even though the gameplay is entirely different and there are no story connections between the two games.
First released: Jul 2010

Play The Hidden Continent: Column of the Maya on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play The Hidden Continent: Column of the Maya on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
