Game summary
Play Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
Star Wars Shadows Of The Empire was the first game released in the Star Wars series. It was released in 1996, resulting in a sale of over a million copies.
It is a Third Person Shooting video game that allows you to participate in vehicle-based missions. The scene revolves around a smuggler in the game that gets mixed up with the Rebel Alliance.
The design of Shadows of The Empire paved the way for N64’s next Star Wars game. The game revolves around missions where the player goes on vehicle and on-foot missions.
Plot
Shadows Of The Empire revolves around a smuggler called Dash Rendar, whose role you will be playing in the game. He is part of a rebel group that helps the main characters to rescue Han Solo from Boba Fett.
Boba Fett is the bounty hunter in this story and takes the role of the villain. The game also tells the story of how Prince Xizor is planning to eliminate Darth Vader to take his place at the Emperor’s side.
Gameplay
The gameplay is pretty underwhelming, as enemies do not show any movements. When they need to move, they will do so at a very slow pace. This gives no sense of excitement.
In some parts of your mission, you will have to jump continuously between moving trains to avoid death. You need to think quickly before the trains arrive at a fast pace.
You can collect Challenge points at each stage in the game, which will help unlock secret bonuses in difficult levels. The controls during the on-foot missions are the only downside in the game, making it complicated to play. Standing still and aiming to shoot at enemies also makes the gameplay too slow, knowing all too well that the enemies can shoot from anywhere.
