How to play Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 7: Columns on Mac
Game summary
This game is an upgrade of the original 1990 arcade release of Columns.
The games were released out of order for some reason — this one was released a few weeks before Volume 6, unless Sega, 3D-Ages, and SCEJ all accidentally switched the dates on both their websites.
This game include an "original mode" (which is practically identical to the arcade release) and an updated mode, sporting pre-rendered 2D graphics and various visual and audio upgrades. There is also a versus mode where you can play against the computer, otherwise it is not too dissimilar from the original version.
First released: Dec 2003
Play Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 7: Columns on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 7: Columns on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
