Play SD Gundam Next Evolution on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play SD Gundam Next Evolution on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

Back in 2015, S.D. Gundam Next Evolution presented itself as the latest version of the Gundam game franchise. The title promised loads of futuristic-styled Gundam battles with plenty of fast-paced action mechanics designed to impress players. Fans of the Gundam universe immediately showed interest in this new development, eagerly awaiting the release date. However, when it finally arrived, we realized this was nothing more than an attempt at something greater.

This action RPG title developed by Trinity Games had one of the most short-lived drives in the gaming industry and quickly got pushed into the background in just a year of going online. S.D. Gundam Next Evolution, or, GunNex, simply didn't have what it takes to keep fans hooked and quickly faded to obscurity shortly after its release.

Gameplay

GunNex came a long way from the initial S.D. Gundam fighter franchise brought a series of exciting elements to impress fans. One of them was the overall gameplay mechanics that made up the game's core content.

For a 2015 game, S.D. Gundam Next Evolution showcased some decent gameplay quality that could interest just about any player. Fast-paced action mechanics, speedy shooter elements, and a free fall movement system that allowed players to maneuver mid-air and dodge massive energy beams.

While these mechanics were great in theory, they crumbled at their own weight in practice. Players had an endless list of complaints, stating that the overall mechanics appear and feel sluggish, preventing a smooth gameplay experience.

The graphics, although great, didn't give off that classic 'Gundam' vibe, which disappointed fans of the franchise. Moreover, players even stated that this was even worse than the original SDGO game, which is a shocking allegation. Overall, it made for one of the worst Gundam titles ever released and has officially been plugged from the market.
