Plot
NHL 09 is based on the international ice-hockey season from 2008 to 2009. You need to play as a character that joins one of the ice-hockey teams in Canada.
After that, you have to play throughout the season and try to win the championship.
Gameplay
The most important role in this game is team play. If you focus your gameplay on passing the buck, you will experience a good game always. Before the start of the game, you need to create a character and finish all the tutorials.
The real fun in the game starts after the tutorials are over. You get to choose from a wide selection of modes in this game, the most challenging one being the Become A Pro mode.
You get to choose an NHL player in this mode and use him the whole game. You fill in for your partner whenever they are tired. You have to enter the race in an advantageous position, so your team doesn’t fall behind.
You start as a player in the AHL and have to prove that you are worthy of being called up to the NHL by winning 24 games. Even after reaching the NHL, you will start from the 3rd line and slowly make your way upwards. This is the basic gameplay in the Become A Pro mode.
