How to play Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto on Mac

Game summary

Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto is a full motion video train simulator. Driving from Kyoto into the mountainside and back. You need to be on schedule and are requiered to precicely stop the train at stations. You get evaluated by stoping as close to the hold line as possible (< 50 cm) and being neither to early, nor to late (<3 seconds). You can get panalized, which reduces your time evaluation. For example driving to fast, or breaking to hard. The evaluation earns you medals, unlocking information for points of interest within walking distance near the stations you are driving to. All of them are pictured and the locations are marked on a simple map.

Play Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
