Play ImperiumAO on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play ImperiumAO on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

This 2D MMO RPG reminds fans of a simpler time when we weren't so hell-bent on crazy graphics and focused on the content. ImperiumAO is a wacky and fun collection of exciting quests, interesting characters, and a whole lot of PVP competition. And the best part is, this gem of a game comes free of charge!

The beloved MMO game was released in 2004 when industry giants like World of Warcraft and Diablo had already captured the market. But somehow, this tiny 2D game impressed quite a prominent number of players. Good for them!

Plot:

The game is a free-flowing MMO RPG that lets you create a character and join your friends and party members on a range of quests and missions. It's like playing Elder Scrolls Online without all the HD graphics, modern technology, and fancy rendering softwares. We agree it might not be for everyone, but like Minecraft, ImperiumAO has already gained a fan following, and it looks like they will stick to it.

Gameplay:

The gameplay resembles the same kind of mechanics as many older console releases. In fact, playing this game makes us remember those nifty little 16-bit video games with heavily pixelated characters. Basically, everyone in the game will look like box-headed blobs.

While the game does have its limitations, it's still an honestly fun game to play. Fans and players have created a captivating world that relies on PvP drama and overall player interaction. The content might be old and outdated, but the player events and interactions make it worth the while. We wholeheartedly recommend this game if you're into some light PVP fun in a cartoonish but exciting world.
