How to play Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity on Mac
Game summary
Play Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
The name itself hints at the nature of this game– Hyrule Warriors is a hack-and-slash role-playing adventure video game. Its plot is a prequel (100 years before) to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
It was developed by Omega Force and was initially released in November 2020 by Nintendo and Koei Tecmo. Despite being new in the video game arena, players love it for its combat-infused plot, content, and soundtracks.
It also features many elements, including characters and locations from Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warrior franchise, which earned a lot of audience. Sadly, the game is only accessible on the Nintendo Switch platform.
Gameplay And Features
At a glance, Age of Calamity is undoubtedly a more combat-focused version of Breath of The Wild. So, fans who wish to have a similar gaming experience with more action will find it exciting to play.
The plot is driven by Link and Princess Zelda, who set off to gather allies to fight against the enemy forces of Ganon. It leads to the beginning of BOTW, where Link wakes up with amnesia.
As you play the game, you can participate in quests, indulge in massive-scale battles, and fight to capture enemy bases.
The virtual environment of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, its map, and many other minor features are very similar to Zelda.
The game lets you upgrade your character, receive buffs from the food you cook, and even command troops!
Should You Play It?
Despite its popularity, Hyrule Warriors was a work that Nintendo published in haste, so many players complained about its overall performance, especially the frame rate.
However, it’s still a great game to try playing for a change of pace and learn about the history of Hyrule.
But! Don’t play it if you haven’t tried Breath of the Wild and plan to play it sometime. The storyline will definitely piece together wonderfully if you play BOTW first and then Age of Calamity.
