Play Homeworld: Remastered Collection on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Homeworld: Remastered Collection on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
Relic entertainment's award-winning game, Homeworld, originally released in 1999, has been tweaked, upgraded, and remastered for contemporary players to experience this classic sci-fi strategy extravaganza.
Homeworld Remastered Collection features parts 1 and 2 of the cult franchise and gives it a revived energy. The new version packs everything from graphical upgrades and texture enhancements to refurbished UI and transforms this classical franchise into a brandished version that we can enjoy even in 2022. With so many impactful tweaks, revisiting this franchise brings an exciting flavor for both long-time fans and new players.
Plot
Homeworld 1 revolves around the conflict between the major factions that make up this world's political landscape: The Kushan, Hiigrans, and the Taiidan Empire. This conflict is then continued in Homeworld 2, which follows the many struggles of the Hiigarians and their esteemed leader, Karan S'jet.
In part 1, players get to see the discovery of the long-lost starship, Khar-Toba, by the exiled Kushans, who use the hyperspace core to build a mothership that can take them to their long-lost home, Hiigara. In part 2, players get to continue the story after the destruction of the Taiidan Empire and face new challenges that threaten their very survival.
Gameplay:
Both the Homeworld games feature real-time strategy gameplay that is both calculative and packed with action. Players get to explore the vast surroundings of space with impressive motherships and encounter several challenges along the journey.
