Play Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

One thing about the Guilty Gear game series is its consistent upgrade with every installment. The latest version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R further attests to it. Game developer Arch System Works made some great improvements with the latest version.

Now for a newbie, it's only fair to introduce the game briefly. Guilty XX, also known as the Midnight Carnival in Japan, falls under the fighting game genre. It is the third installment of the Guilty game series with a thicker plot and introduction of new characters.

Upgraded features and game development

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is the fifth version and comes with a solid package. One would say it’s a better and improved version than the earlier ones. Expect great music, brilliant fighting mechanics, and sprite work.

Undeniably, the earlier version has a sound fighting system, but more improvement ensues in the fifth update. The fighting mechanism is still in solid form despite being released in 2012, all thanks to Switch.

Another improvement you’ll see is extended characters and also the introduction of clone characters. Additionally, it's filled with different player modes, including mission, survival, and M.O.M. You can also play online with multiple players. However, it can be a hit or miss. Perhaps you can check it out yourself.

Music has been the plus factor of this game series, and with the Plus R update, it gets better. Updated themes are enabled for each fighter, including multiple versions for some fighters.

If you're an avid fan of this game, you might probably know how good their sprite work is. It's more detailed and still holds up, although it has switched to a different engine.

It's worth giving it a shot if you haven't tried it yet. Moreover, if you're into this genre, you should definitely check it out!
