Play Escape from Tarkov on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Escape from Tarkov on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

Escape from Tarkov installation steps for Mac

Step 1
Go to Parallels.com and download the latest version of the software.
Step 2
Follow the installation process and make sure you allow Parallels in your Mac’s security preferences (it will prompt you to do so).
Step 3
When prompted, download and install Windows 10. The download is around 5.7GB. Make sure you give it all the permissions that it asks for.
Step 4
Once Windows is done installing, you are ready to go. All that’s left to do is install Escape from Tarkov like you would on any PC.

🕹 Editor's notes

Escape From Tarkov is a First Person Shooter game set in a fictional war-torn city in Russia. The city is called Tarkov, and the players need to get out of there alive to complete their mission.

Unlike other FPS games, Escape From Tarkov does not require you to have a death match. You must enter a specific map point in this game and need to escape from the other end. You will find your way to the exit point by following the map.

Primary Goal

In this game, the main target for you and your mates is to stay alive and escape the war-torn city. You get to keep your equipment and whatever you have collected in the mission after the game ends. You can sell whatever you have amassed to NPC merchants for money, which will help you complete your quest.

Anything you collect during your mission, like food supplies, guns, ammo, gear, etc., will be helpful to get you a good deal for cash. If you are new to the game, you can play as a Scav, a raider partly controlled by the computer. Playing as a Scav helps starters learn the game and provides various gear and equipment.

Managing Gear

In Escape From Tarkov, gearing up is not as easy as in other games where you pick gear from a dead enemy. You are made to make hard decisions when you find other people’s items. The game does not simply allow you to pick up anything you find along the way.

You have to make space in your backpack if you want to collect extra items. If you pick up body armor, you have to dispose of something from your belongings to make space for it.

You should learn to recognize the hundreds of items in the game. You can earn more if you can collect items of higher value when you trade with other players or NPC vendors.
