Game summary
D.W. the Picky Eater is an interactive storybook and an educational game for children aged three to seven. It is based on the 1995 children's book by Marc Brown. Players follow D.W., Arthur Read the aardvark's sister, who dislikes a lot of food because it looks disgusting to her. Items she does not like include pickles, tomatoes, pineapple, spinach, salad, parsnips etc. The story is told through narration and text on the screen and meanwhile many hotspots in the environment can be clicked for a short animation. There are also several mini-games such as decorating D.W.'s playhouse along with a game, soaking gophers with the water hose, setting the table and so on.
First released: Dec 1998
Play D.W. the Picky Eater on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play D.W. the Picky Eater on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
