How to play Chrono Cross on Mac
Game summary
Play Chrono Cross on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Chrono Cross on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
Chrono Cross is the sequel to the Chrono Trigger game developed by Square. This version has one of the most exciting plots for an RPG, and it is no surprise why there was high anticipation in the States for its release.
Chrono Cross has over 40 characters in the game with different characteristics and even accents. They all play crucial roles in the game’s story. The plot revolves around the involvement of humans in the destruction of the environment and how our actions can impact our lives in the future.
Gameplay
The battles in Chrono Cross are simple and fun, as the game enables players to use multiple features. Some of those features include stamina points, field effects, innate attributes, etc.
The players have the option to defend themselves, attack, run, or cast spells against monsters. The use of attacks and spells in the Chrono Cross game separates them from other RPG games.
There are three forms of attacks the players are allowed to use in this game.
- Fierce Attacks – Players are allowed to use fierce attacks that can cause significant damage to the monsters.
- Strong Attacks – Strong attacks cause more damage but often miss the target.
- Weak Attacks – Weak attacks will not cause much damage, but they will be more accurate in hitting the target.
Sound
Chrono Cross is a great game when it comes to the plot, graphics, etc., but it does not have the best sound and music. This does not mean that the soundtracks are awful, but the developers could have done better.
The sounds in the game as a whole are soothing, but you cannot single out any track as excellent. It is unusual for an RPG game not to have a couple of tracks stand out from the rest.
The game’s battle music is also exhausting at times. It gets tiring and does not inspire me as a player when the battle goes on for an extended period.
However, if you are a fan of RPG games, Chrono Cross is a game you must try.
