How to play Bert the Barbarian on Mac
Game summary
Bert the Barbarian is an action-arcade platform game made with charming clay animation that might remind you of old English children's TV series. You control the eponymous barbarian Bert who must find his way through ramparts while fighting or evading numerically superior foes.
Bert the Barbarian is programmed in the DIV2 game development environment. Its was originally created as a DIV2 demo for a competition held by the PC Zone magazine, and won the first prize.
However, the author, Anthony Flack, never expanded the game beyond two levels that will cycle indefinitely until you run out of continues. A Windows version is also available. Later, Bert the Barbarian was ported to other platforms, and may be also played in browser.
First released: Nov 1999
Play Bert the Barbarian on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Bert the Barbarian on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).
