Play Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)

The easiest way to play Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.

Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.

Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes

If you’re a fan of visual novels, then Aokana Four Rhythm Across The Blue is one you should definitely get your hands on. The Japanese adult visual novel was developed by Sprite and released for Windows, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

The visual novel follows the story of high school student Masaya Hinata as he teaches his classmates Misaki Tobiwasa, Asuka Kurashina, Shion Aoyagi, and Mashiro Arisaki to get better in the “flying circus” sport. Flying circus involves competitors flying through the skies by wearing shoes with anti-gravity technology. Like most Japanese visual novels, players can take routes through the story to enter a romantic relationship with either Misaki, Mashiro, Asuka, or Rika Ichinose, who is his neighbor and from a rival school.

Gameplay

As a romance visual novel, players would assume the role of Masaya Hinata and try to romance one of the girls. The majority of the gameplay is focused on the plot’s narrative, such as the dialogue. The gameplay features branching plot lines with multiple endings for each branch. These endings depend on various decisions that the player makes throughout the game.

In Aokana, there are four main plot lines for each of the four heroines. During the gameplay, you will be presented with multiple options to choose from, and the story progresses further after the choice is made. The game can also end before the story reaches its climax if the player chooses the \"wrong\" options, which is an alternative ending.

Story

The imaginary sport that is the subject of the narrative is made possible by the earlier inventions in the world that made it possible for people to fly. The game describes the plot by letting the reader participate in the action and saving the explanation for later to avoid being overly info-dumpy. The MC plays the role of a \"supporting\" character to the main cast rather than the trump card in the plot, and the visual novel is paced in a way that demonstrates how he has grown to accept his current status.
