Game summary
Play Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey on Mac with Parallels (virtualized)
The easiest way to play Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey on a Mac is through Parallels, which allows you to virtualize a Windows machine on Macs. The setup is very easy and it works for Apple Silicon Macs as well as for older Intel-based Macs.
Parallels supports the latest version of DirectX and OpenGL, allowing you to play the latest PC games on any Mac. The latest version of DirectX is up to 20% faster.
Our favorite feature of Parallels Desktop is that when you turn off your virtual machine, all the unused disk space gets returned to your main OS, thus minimizing resource waste (which used to be a problem with virtualization).

🕹 Editor's notes
Developed by Panache Digital Games and published by Private Division, Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey is a survival game released for Windows PCs and consoles. The game takes a special spin on the whole survival genre by taking you back millions of years to when we were just basically monkeys and being tasked to ensure the survival of our species.
Set off on human evolution, the most amazing voyage known to humanity. Start your trip before us in Neogene-era Africa, between 10 million and 2 million years ago. To sustain life and have the strength to tackle any threat that may come your way, just like in real life, be sure to eat, drink, and get enough rest.
Gameplay
The game is played from a third-person perspective as you take control of a member of a hominid group. The mechanics of the game involve you as the player trying to keep yourself and your species alive by eating, drinking, and sleeping. The core mechanics are fairly simple as you progress through Neogene Africa, with your character coming across other different animals and trying to survive those threats.
Players can also traverse the world by climbing trees and swinging from them. Your character can also sustain injuries if you are attacked or just fall down from a height. Other mechanics also include being able to recruit new members for your clan and being able to use your heightened senses to investigate areas of interest.
Final Thoughts
This game is perfect for you if you're into primatology and paleoanthropology. It has all the right ingredients for an avid fan to have their itch scratched. You will get to discover the ancient world in all its glory, plus you will get to see the kings of the jungle during the time.
